Ann Hudson indexing services

I have been indexing for more than 25 years, specialising in academic books and journals.

I have a Cambridge honours degree in archaeology and art history and a working knowledge of French, Italian, German and Latin and some Ancient Greek.

My specialist subjects are archaeology, art history, architectural history and local history.

Based in the south of England, I have particular knowledge of Sussex, London, Surrey, Hampshire, Kent and East Anglia.

Three of my indexes have been shortlisted for the Wheatley Medal for indexing

I offer a consultancy service for editors compiling their own indexes to historical records publications.

I am active in indexing training. I lead workshops ('live' and 'online') and give online tutorials for indexers at all levels. In 2009 I was presented by the Society of Indexers with the Carey Award for outstanding services to indexing, in recognition of my work as a teacher and trainer.

I have also led workshops on indexing for copy-editors and proofreaders and in-house workshops for publishers.

In my spare time I enjoy choral singing, painting and drawing, European travel, and researching my family history.
